MoneyCubby Message to Grandparents

I have heard a lot of grandparents saying that "Children don’t have the values that were taught in our days '. Most people would agree with that statement.

This is very true of children understanding the value of money.

grandpa.png In the ‘old’ days everyone was encouraged to put away money for a rainy day. Lots of people kept little envelopes/jars around the house holding money for ‘this and that’.  Generally the  bills got paid first and what was over had to be enough to live on. Holidays happened when money was saved and luxuries were scarce.

Our credit driven society has changed all that. Now if there is not money available we get it via some form of credit borrowing. The emphasis has moved right away from the need to Save money.

This change in emphasis from spending money, rather than saving money, concerns grandparents because of the values they grew up with. What are their grandchildren learning about money?

How can you help your grandchild learn some of the ‘old fashioned’ ideas about the value and need to save money?

The Money Cubby Program is excellent way. It is a wonderful investment in your grandchild’s future (and makes a nice change from giving toys as a gift). Invest in their future.

One grandmothers view:-

"I am sick of buying toys, my grandchild has plenty of them. What I will do in future is give him some money and encourage him to put it in his Money Cubby money box.  Makes it easy for me I don’t need to think about what toy to buy in future"
