The Australian Government has initiatived the introduction of a Financial Literacy program into Australian Schools in 2008.

Everywhere you look, you will see Governments and Corporations coming to the realisation that not enough has been done to educate people about financial literacy.  It makes perfect sense for the Australian Government to invest in preventative measures now, by introducing simple financial literacy education into the schooling system.

Understanding Money — Building Australia's Financial Literacy Professional development for teaching financial literacy in schools

The Financial Literacy Foundation is working with all school systems to develop a national approach to providing professional development for teachers who will be teaching financial literacy from 2008 onwards. Financial Literacy Foundation Advisory Board

Paul Clitheroe is Chairman of the Financial Literacy Foundation Advisory Board that was established by the Australian Government.

He was recently quoted in Money Magazine as saying, "I support the principal of pocket money. It encourages choice, the value of things and puts a limit on what you can buy.......As Chairman of the Financial Literacy Foundation, I am delighted with the introduction of financial literacy into our school system in 2008.......This is really exciting, so support your school by taking an interest in what your child is learning about money."
